It's also possible to stay in a good job for too long. What I mean is that, it's sometimes hard to trade security and comfort level in for risk and the potential for growth. A good job can keep you from starting your own company, for example. Or from finding your calling, even if it's another job. I knew a woman once who had a career filled with security and contentment, and didn't discover a true passion--a calling--until she started taking classes in her retirement, when she discovered she was really born to be a copy editor. She came out of retirement and now works for a newspaper.
